Founded in 1967, the Society for California Archaeology (SCA) is a nonprofit organization promoting the conservation, reserach, and interpretation of California's archaeological heritage. The SCA encourages cooperation among archaeologists working in California by providing outlets for professionals to share their work, including annual meetings and various publications. Additionally, the SCA encourages public involvement with events such as Archaeology Month. These events increase awareness and support for archaeological investigations and conservation efforts in both the public and private sectors.
